Depending on where your business is in its growth and development, and the goals of the engagement, we will determine whether the Competitive Analysis, Target Audience Analysis or Positioning and Messaging deliverables are necessary to get started. We kick off every marketing engagement by rolling up our sleeves and going deep with you and your team in a collaborative working session. We’ll discuss the project scope and goals, analyze your business and audience, and generally make sure that we’re on the same page as we move forward.

The Goals & KPIs deliverable outlines the primary and secondary goals of the engagement, while also establishing what metrics will be used to measure success in accomplishing these goals. This ensures that we are aligned regarding the expectations for the relationship and provides the basis for our ongoing performance scorecard which is designed to keep both parties aligned over the longer term.

With the Competitive Analysis deliverable, we provide insights into what your competitors are doing in terms of their branding and digital marketing. This will include an analysis of the channels your competitors are involved in as well as their methods for positioning their brands. We will present high-level observations and key takeaways from the research that we should apply to the overarching marketing strategy.

The Target Audience Analysis lays out ideal target audience profiles through one-on-one interviews, surveys and available market research. We will often source current and past customers as well as non-customers for the research.

With the Positioning and Messaging deliverable, we develop top-level brand messaging that will be used to clarify and present the client's brand and story to the target audience. The deliverable will include a positioning statement, UVPs, and key messaging angles.

FAQ

How long are your contracts?

Our contracts are typically 12 months, with a 30-day out clause (because we never want to lock a client in against their will). However, we appreciate going in with a patient mindset, as good marketing takes time to grow and flourish.

Do you take a percentage of our ad spend (ie management fee)?

We do not take a commission or margin on client ad spend. All of our compensation is handled through our ongoing retainer.

What is a typical client for Brolik?

Our typical client is a small business $2-20M in revenue with a growth-oriented, tight-knit ownership group. Usually 10-50 employees. We say that Brolik is "your fractional marketing department from high-level strategy to technical marketing, design and development execution," so often the internal marketing teams we work with are small. They need a strategic partner for planning and strategy help and a full agency team to pull from for execution across channels and disciplines. On the client-side, this usually equates to between 1-3 internal marketing-focused roles, and rarely any internal marketing teams that are larger than that. We are much better at supporting our clients when they say "we need help with retention" or "we need to grow our inbound lead opportunities" vs. clients that come in and say "we need a paid search specialist" or "we need content marketing" as we don't specialize in any single marketing channel or tactic. We are about empowering small internal marketing teams and moving businesses forward.

We have deep experience with service-based companies (home services, consumer services, professional services and high ticket business services). However, In our 20+ years of business, we have worked with companies in many industries, in the most interesting niches, and with varying business models. As a generalist agency, we thrive on new challenges and are adept at jumping in and learning quickly. Our diverse experience allows us to see opportunities and patterns across industries and clients. We can apply learnings from one client to another without creating a conflict of interest that comes with having many clients in the same industry. Working across a diverse range of industries and business models has its advantages – we'll come in with an open mind and won't just rinse and repeat something that worked for one of your competitors.

Who would I be working with?

You'll be working directly with an accounts strategist or marketing manager (who is your day-to-day contact) and a growth director, who oversees the strategy and the account at a high level.

What is a typical monthly fee?

Our typical monthly fee ranges based on the scope, desired pace, and appetite for growth, but usually falls between $5,000-$10,000 per month + ad spend. This fee is based on a block of hours at a blended rate of $215 per hour.
