Our Proven Approach to Marketing Success
Brolik isn’t your typical marketing agency. We strive to become an integral part of business and its growth. Our marketing strategies are developed with an unwavering focus on your business goals and a thirst for provable, scalable Return On Investment. We’ve helped many businesses navigate their growth trajectory over the past 20 years, and have developed a clear, repeatable process for doing so.

A Time-Tested Process…
We start with our time-tested strategy phase to identify your goals, gain insight into your industry and audience, and then develop a plan. We also know that every business and situation is different, so our flexible, modular approach allows us to dig in as deeply as necessary to prepare you for growth.
…Customized to Meet Your Needs
Depending on where your business is in its growth and development, and the goals of the engagement, we will determine whether the Competitive Analysis, Target Audience Analysis or Positioning and Messaging deliverables are necessary to get started. If not, there is likely to be value in digging into these areas later, so they can always be prioritized as part of our flexible retainer.
We kick off every marketing engagement by rolling up our sleeves and going deep with you and your team in a collaborative working session. We’ll discuss the project scope and goals, analyze your business and audience, and generally make sure that we’re on the same page as we move forward.
The Goals & KPIs deliverable outlines the primary and secondary goals of the engagement, while also establishing what metrics will be used to measure success in accomplishing these goals. This ensures that we are aligned regarding the expectations for the relationship and provides the basis for our ongoing performance scorecard which is designed to keep both parties aligned over the longer term.
With the Competitive Analysis deliverable, we provide insights into what your competitors are doing in terms of their branding and digital marketing. This will include an analysis of the channels your competitors are involved in as well as their methods for positioning their brands. We will present high-level observations and key takeaways from the research that we should apply to the overarching marketing strategy.
The Target Audience Analysis lays out ideal target audience profiles through one-on-one interviews, surveys and available market research. We will often source current and past customers as well as non-customers for the research.
With the Positioning and Messaging deliverable, we develop top-level brand messaging that will be used to clarify and present the client's brand and story to the target audience. The deliverable will include a positioning statement, UVPs, and key messaging angles.

Matt Stohner
CEO, Powerhouse
"Brolik asked us pointed questions about our needs early on to make sure they understood the challenges of our space, then detailed how they make decisions and which audiences we’d be targeting. I was impressed with how quickly they were able to deliver that information."
Phase 2: Marketing Retainer
Once our Strategy Phase is complete, we can turn our focus to execution. Our approach is focused on leveraging real-time data collection and rapid iteration to find success in one aspect of the strategy at a time, then building on these small successes to achieve sustainable growth.

Marketing Driven by Business Goals
Our success comes from an unrelenting focus on your goals throughout the life of the engagement. From our first deliverable focused on Goals & KPIs, to the Marketing Scorecard that keeps a weekly pulse on success, our approach is built on holding ourselves accountable for showing progress towards your growth goals.
- A Marketing Scorecard shows us the weekly read on the KPIs developed at the beginning of our engagement, so that we can quickly make decisions that move the needle.
- Our Weekly Update email will give you a snapshot of the success metrics from last week and a high-level view of our priorities for the week ahead.
- Our Monthly Report allows us to take a step back to analyze our results from the previous month to talk about what strategic pivots are necessary to reach our goals.
- The Monthly Initiative Calendar provides you a consistent, up-to-date view of our priorities for the month and our progress through them.

What's not included in the marketing retainer?
Large projects such as video shoots, rebranding, or website redesign/replatform. Everything else, including design, development, content, paid media, strategy, and so on, is pulled from the retainer.
How does Brolik track and measure campaign performance?
At the start of every engagement, we set clear goals and KPIs and build a performance scorecard to track progress on a weekly basis. We review results through weekly reporting and monthly strategic conversations.
We focus on hard, bottom-line metrics, like sales-qualified leads, revenue, customer acquisition cost, and customer lifetime value. We always implement end-to-end tracking, giving a detailed view of campaign impact and enabling data-driven decisions for continuous growth.
How quickly can we expect to see results?
The speed of results depends on several factors, including the maturity of your business, understanding of your audience, sales processes, and readiness for change. For companies with untapped marketing potential, we can often make an impact quickly, especially with paid media campaigns. We strive to show positive indicators within the first few months of the retainer period, with a clear plan to improve return on investment.
However, results may take longer if your business has long sales cycles, limited capacity to handle growth, operational gaps such as an unresponsive sales team, or product/market fit issues. Our role is to identify what needs to change and guide strategy, but the speed of impact also relies on your team’s ability to act on recommendations and invest in growth.
What channels will we use to reach my audience?
The answer to this comes out of our Strategy Phase. It’s not until the end of this phase that we put together a plan including what specific channels we will choose, how we will allocate media spend, and what our testing strategy will be. We avoid putting the cart before the horse by working to deeply understand your business, your market, and your audience before deciding on the channels we think will be most effective and efficient.
Who will be working on my account?
Most communication will be with an experienced Account Strategist. The marketing manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the channels and tactics, and is supervised by a Growth Director. There are other supporting team members in content, design, development, and marketing execution. However, you will not communicate with these supporting team members regularly.
How does onboarding work?
Once we have a master services agreement (MSA) and scope of work (SOW) in place, we begin collecting information, sending over a questionnaire about basic marketing and sales information prior to our Discovery Workshop. In this kickoff meeting, we discuss your goals, review target audience personas, discuss strengths and weaknesses, and talk about the business model as it relates to marketing.
We then send over a checklist to begin the process of assessing their platforms and accounts, and immediately begin working on the first deliverable of our Strategy Phase, Goals & KPIs.
How often will we communicate?
We provide initiative and performance updates on a weekly basis. We also schedule monthly strategy meetings with our clients to review progress, priorities, and plan future initiatives together, where we go over our performance scorecard together and discuss any shifting priorities or needs. On an annual basis, we provide a strategy for the next year of the retainer, built off what we have learned so far.
Do you manage social channels and create all of our content?
We often manage the planning and execution of organic social media for our clients, but it depends on the internal resources of each client. Some clients handle posting to their own social accounts to allow us to use our retainer hours elsewhere.
Do you manage ad spend?
Yes, we manage client advertising campaigns and budgets through our ongoing retainer. However, unlike most agencies, we do not bill and pay out the ad spend, and we do not take a 10%-15% fee from all spend. Instead, it is billed directly to the client from the advertising platforms.
How do you manage initiatives and projects?
We plan and manage all monthly initiatives in a detailed Initiative Calendar, so our clients always know what we have planned for the month, what activities are in progress, and what has been completed within the retainer period.
How long are your contracts?
For a new client engagement, a 6-month contract can be offered. Then, renewals are structured as 1-year contracts with quarterly performance reviews.
If things aren’t going as expected, can I get out of the contract?
Although it is uncommon, if a client wants to terminate, we ask for 30-days notice.
How do you work with other in-house team members or other agencies/consultants?
We consider ourselves to be a quarterback on the marketing side, helping to facilitate progress and growth for our clients. This means orchestrating between team members on our side as well as on the client side. This means we sometimes help to guide/support client freelancers, subcontractors, and internal team members, and make sure everyone is rowing in the same direction.
How much do you outsource work?
All strategy and project management work is handled in-house. Most of our execution work is done in-house as well, with the exception of specialty needs that arise. In this case, we manage the recruiting and performance of outside freelancers or subcontractors, many of whom have been working with us for over 10 years.
Do you take commission on ad spend?
No, we do not take a commission or margin on client ad spend. Our ad spend recommendations are solely based on the best interests of your company, with no ulterior motive outside of making sure your business is growing. This structure separates us from other agencies because we are not incentivized to increase your ad spend to increase our commission. We want to optimize your marketing spend to best fit your needs.
How much do you charge?
Our fee levels vary by client, but it is common for our fees to range from $7,000-10,000 per month during the strategy phase, and $5,000-8,000 per month once the retainer begins. We manage a block of hours per month, calculated using our blended hourly rate of $215 per hour.
